Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are health care professionals educated and trained to accurately assess and treat the body with techniques that include massage and manual therapy, joint mobilization, and hydrotherapy. At Copper Moon Massage and Wellness our therapists are committed to restoring and maintaining optimal health and function of the body.
Massage Therapy is an effective approach to pain management and relaxation. It relieves stress and promotes an overall feeling of relaxation, helping clients to breathe and move more easily. It is effective in treating a wide range of conditions such as migraine headaches, tendonitis, arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, as well as many other common conditions related to soft tissue dysfunction.
Hot Stone Massage
This treatment is a combination of traditional hot stone and Swedish massage and is incredibly relaxing. Smooth basalt stones have been hand-picked by our RMTs from beaches all over Vancouver Island.
Stones are warmed and used in therapists hands to massage the body. The stones are strategically placed along the body to release tension and stress. The penetrating heat brings much needed oxygen-rich blood to congested tissues. There is also a decrease in muscle stiffness and tension, and a deep level of relaxation is experienced.
Pregnancy massage is a type that’s similar to regular massage – it aims to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But prenatal massage is also customized to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly.
Performed by a Registered Acupuncturist, Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used to promote health and healing in the body. Single-use disposable needles are inserted into “acupuncture points” on the body to activate the body’s natural healing response. Acupuncture is a safe treatment option and has the unique ability to promote relaxation, decrease pain, and enhance feelings of well-being through the release of endorphins (the body’s natural pain relieving hormones) in the body. Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of conditions such as digestive disturbances, asthma or other respiratory conditions, menstrual problems, pain, arthritis, headache, cancer (supportive therapy), sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, stress, and many more.
Your treatment will consist of a thorough health history, assessment, treatment, as well as possible TCM diet and lifestyle recommendations. In addition, other TCM therapies may be included in your treatment such as acupressure, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and tui na.
Incorporating all of the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Acupuncture Meridians, Needleless Acupuncture is a great alternative for those interested in Acupuncture, but who are not quite ready for the needles (or as a great option for children and teens). Performed by a Registered Acupuncturist, acupressure, cupping, gua sha, tui na, electromagnetic therapy, moxibustion, and/or ear therapy may be used to help you achieve your treatment goals.
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning universal life force energy. It’s also an ancient Tibetan style of energy healing. The intention as a Reiki therapist is to restore and balance the body’s natural energy allowing it to heal. The therapist is a conduit, channelling universal energy through their body and into the client’s body and aura. Healing happens on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. It’s known to reduce stress and increase well-being.
